Several SOM committees and subcommittees are seeking faculty members.  You are able to self-nominate until April 30th.

From SOM Admissions:

The School of Medicine is accepting self-nominations for the Admissions Interview Committee and the Admissions File Review Committee.  The interview committee interviews prospective medical students who are applicants to the school of medicine. Those interested in serving on the Interview Committee should contact Euracia Thompson at [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>.  The File Review Committee reviews the written aspects of the  applications (personal statements and experiences section) of those prospective students applying to the school of medicine. Those interested in serving on the File Review Committee should contact Diane Taylor at [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>.

From SOM Curriculum Committee and its subcommittees:

The SOM Curriculum Committee is charged to oversee the design, management and evaluation of the educational program of the School of Medicine, through participation by faculty, students and administration.  Those interested in serving on this committee should contact Loretta Jackson at [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> with a statement of interest.

The subcommittees of the SOM Curriculum Committee with an interest in new members are as follows:

The Curriculum Development and Innovation Subcommittee is charged to review the curriculum map to identify trends and necessary changes, to provide oversight in the development of new courses, and to manage revisions in the format of existing courses and significant changes in curriculum design.  Those interested in serving on this subcommittee should contact Austin Harrison at [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> with a statement of interest.

The Evaluation and Assessment Subcommittee is charged to conduct, coordinate, and analyze all reviews of all components of the SOM curriculum on a regular basis to ensure that the stated curriculum functions as designed and has appropriate assessment tools for all programs.  Those interested in serving on this subcommittee should contact David Norris at [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> with a statement of interest.

The Foundational Sciences Subcommittee is charged to process changes from the evaluation of the preclinical curriculum, coordinate appropriate changes for the curriculum based on student outcome data, and utilize appropriate evaluation tools for the preclinical curriculum.  Those interested in serving on this subcommittee should contact Loretta Jackson at [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> with a statement of interest.

The Program Evaluation Subcommittee is charged to engage in ongoing planning and implement a continuous quality improvement process for the educational curriculum.  Those interested in serving on this subcommittee should contact Lecretia Buckley at [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> with a statement of interest.

The Professional Identity Formation Subcommittee is charged to develop, implement, and evaluate elements within the curriculum in the SOM related to the professional development of students, coordinate appropriate changes for the curriculum based on student outcome data, and provide appropriate assessment tools for this portion of the curriculum.  Those interested in serving on this subcommittee should contact Molly Clark at [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> with a statement of interest.

The Society and Medicine Subcommittee is charged to design, implement, oversee and evaluate a longitudinal curriculum for the societal topics that impact the health of individuals, the delivery of health, and the access to health care of individuals and populations.  Those interested in serving on this subcommittee should contact Caroline Compretta at [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> with a statement of interest.

The Systems-Based Practice Subcommittee is charged to design, implement, oversee and evaluate a longitudinal curriculum for the business practices of medicine that impact the health of individuals, the delivery of health, and the access to health care of individuals and populations.  Those interested in serving on this subcommittee should contact Marc Walker at [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> with a statement of interest.
