Thanks for being part of our Education Listserv community. This community was created to facilitate communication and collaboration of teaching experiences by faculty on the UMMC campus. The goal is to offer an avenue to exchange pedagogical ideas, discover useful links and resources, get answers to questions, request leads, information, and ideas, give back by responding to others' questions and requests as well as gain a feeling of being connected, included, and involved in a community of faculty striving to reach the same goals. We hope you engage in this forum and contribute to the discussion!

To ensure the best possible experience for all Listserv members, we have established some basic guidelines for participation.

State concisely and clearly the topic of your comments in the subject line. This allows members to respond more appropriately to your posting and makes it easier for members to search the archives by subject. E-mails received with no subject line may likely be perceived as spam by an e-mail filter and be deleted before reaching the recipient's inbox.

Responses to many listserv questions and discussion topics are of interest to the entire list. In these cases, it is appropriate to reply to the listserv address. Personal replies should be directed to specific individuals rather than to the entire list. Remember to cut and paste the sender's e-mail address when replying rather than simply hitting the "Reply" button which sends the response to the entire list. Replies like "Thanks," "Yes" or "No", “Please share with me too” should be sent as a personal message and not to the listserv.

Be respectful and considerate of your colleagues in your postings. The discussions on the lists are meant to stimulate conversation, not to create contention. If you disagree or become upset with someone's response or use of the list, reply to that person directly when appropriate. Any post that contains defamatory, abusive, profane, threatening, offensive or illegal language or materials will be removed immediately. The violator will be removed from the listserv(s) and will be reported to the appropriate authorities.

Do not post anything you do not want the world to see. All posts are archived by UMMC indefinitely.

If the amount of mail from any particular list becomes cumbersome, rather than leaving that list, consider receiving the digest form of the list. Instead of getting each e-mail individually, you will receive a summary e-mail at the end of each day or week. Individual subscribers need to request this function directly for each listserv to which they are subscribed

To set up "digest" mode, from the e-mail address used to subscribe to the listserv list(s), send an e-mail to [log in to unmask] using the following command format in the body of the message (where listname is the list's ID): SET listname DIGEST Example: SET EDUCATION-GENERAL-LIST DIGEST

Do not send administrative messages, such as "remove me from the list", through the listserv. To unsubscribe from the list, follow the directions at the bottom of the listserv email message.
